Hallam School Field - Security Fence

The Governors of Hallam School are proposing to erect a security fence around the school, to further their efforts to protect our children. They have applied to Sheffield Council for planning permission for this, and there have been objections to the plans by local residents. Additionally, the planned scheme would have some fairly drastic effects on the availability of parking space for users of the Hallam Hall. Our latest information is that the School have decided to erect a fence only 2 meters high, which does not require planning position. We further understand that the area to be fenced in is considerably smaller than had been planned. We shall post further information as we receive it.

Hallam International Family Fun Day

FunDay Saturday July 2nd 2011 has been cancelled.

FunDay organising committee (comprising members of HCYA, Hallam School PTA, and St. Lukes Church) took this decision in March because of uncertainty regarding the outcome of a planning application by Hallam School for a fence around the school field.
At the time of our decision, we could not be certain that construction of the fence and proposed car park extension would be finished in time for July 2nd.The organisation of FunDay involves booking events, like the Birds of Prey flying display, live music and fairground rides, well in advance and entails significant financial implications for the organisers. In a climate of considerable uncertainty about the outcome of the planning application, the organising committee did not feel able to commit to this expense. The decision to cancel this year’s event was taken with great regret.
However, on the bright side, planning has already begun for FunDay 2012 (Saturday July 7th) which we hope will be bigger and better than our very successful 2010 event. So put the date in your diaries!
